The European Carton Excellence Award

PRO CARTON

The student project you don’t want to miss! #pcyda19

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

For every design student with a heart for packaging the Pro Carton Young Designers Award is a great opportunity. The competition is challenging, leaves a lot of room for creativity, it can open doors career-wise, take you to visit different countries and experience the innovations of a vibrant industry. And this year entering the #pcyda19 is now even easier as the first stage is simply to submit your entry online.

New entry procedure

The first step is to enter online before May 17th. Entering the award is free, as always. The judges will then choose around 100 designs for the official jury meeting. The designers that qualify for the jury meeting will be notified via e-mail and asked to send in their physical design prototypes via mail to our offices in The Hague to arrive by June 3rd. Please keep an eye out for the notification e-mail!

Practical Training

The #pcyda18 winners have just finished their practical training days with Mayr-Melnhof Packaging International in Austria and Metsä Board in Finland. We’d like to thank both companies a lot for taking such good care of the four winners! You can find videos and pictures of the trips on our Social Media channels, it’s an experience money really can’t buy!

The four categories this year are:

  • Creative Cartonboard Packaging: Eat & Drink: The focus lies on cartonboard as the most sustainable food and beverages packaging material and its recyclability.
  • Creative Cartonboard Packaging: All other: This category focusses on using the most sustainable packaging material for non-food packaging.
  • Creative Cartonboard Ideas: Here’s a chance for you to put forward your cartonboard ideas outside of the packaging market.
  • Save the Planet: Show us your ideas as to how cartonboard can reduce or replace plastic and help us save the planet!

This year’s award gala will take place in Malta on 19th September, to which all the 10 finalists plus their main teachers will be invited by Pro Carton. The four overall winners will receive a practical training week with Stora Enso and AR Packaging in Sweden.

Get in contact if you have any questions!
We are always looking to work more closely with university professors and teachers to create the best learning experience possible. To do so we are happy to sponsor cartonboard materials, publications and workshops. Please get in touch if you’re interested in making the Pro Carton Young Designers Award a course project!
